What's really in your water

Kent's tap water isn't as clean as it looks

It's treated to be safe, but it still carries things you'd rather not drink: chlorine, heavy metals, microplastics, pesticides and so-called forever chemicals. (Hardness is a separate problem, solved by a water softener.) The water company doesn't remove these, so they stay in your glass. A drinking water system adds a final layer of protection, right where you actually drink it.

Why filter your water

What a drinking water system changes

Better-tasting drinks

Cleaner water makes tea, coffee, squash and recipes taste noticeably better, fresh water on tap day and night. For workplaces, see our water coolers.

Purer, safer water

Reverse osmosis strips out the vast majority of contaminants, for water you can trust for the whole family.

Neatly out of sight

Most systems tuck away under the sink and feed a separate tap, or a 3-in-1 filtered tap. No jugs, no clutter on the worktop.

Kinder on your health

Removing chlorine, metals and other nasties takes the worry out of what you and your family drink.

Saves you money

No more buying bottled water. The system pays for itself by turning your own tap into the source.

Better for the planet

Far fewer single-use plastic bottles, which means less waste and a smaller footprint.

Common questions

Drinking water, your questions answered

What does a drinking water filter remove?
Our filters reduce or remove chlorine, sediment, bad taste and odour. With reverse osmosis, they also take out heavy metals, microplastics, fluoride and many other dissolved contaminants. The right system depends on what you want to take out, which we'll talk through with you.
What is reverse osmosis?
Reverse osmosis (RO) pushes water through a very fine membrane that filters out the vast majority of dissolved contaminants. It produces exceptionally pure, clean-tasting water and is the most thorough option we fit.
Is reverse osmosis water safe to drink every day?
Yes. Reverse osmosis water is safe for everyday drinking and cooking. It removes contaminants while leaving you with clean, fresh water. If you have specific health requirements, we're happy to talk through the options.
What's the difference between a filter and reverse osmosis?
A standard filter mainly improves taste and removes chlorine, sediment and odour. Reverse osmosis goes much further, stripping out dissolved contaminants like heavy metals and microplastics. RO gives the purest water; a filter is a simpler, lower-cost improvement.
Where is a drinking water system installed?
Most systems sit neatly under your kitchen sink and feed a separate drinking water tap. They're hidden away and out of sight, with no clutter on the worktop.
How much does a drinking water system cost?
Our best-selling Kinetico K5 reverse osmosis system is £745. Simpler filters cost less. Installation is fixed price whatever the complexity, so there are no surprises. We'll confirm the exact cost before any work.
Do I need a filter if I already have a water softener?
They do different jobs. A softener treats hardness and limescale across the whole house, while a drinking water filter or RO system purifies the water you drink and cook with. Many of our customers have both.
How often do the filters need changing?
It depends on the system and your usage, but typically once a year for most filters, with the RO membrane lasting longer. We'll remind you and can supply and fit the replacements as part of our aftercare.
