The basics

What is reverse osmosis, and why it matters

Reverse osmosis is a multi-stage process that pushes water through an ultra-fine membrane, removing particles down to 0.0001 micron. That includes substances that are invisible, tasteless and often ignored.

Unlike basic carbon filters, RO systems are designed to remove dissolved solids, microplastics and chemicals that pass straight through standard filtration. If you care about what goes into your body, it's the most thorough option for the home.

What reverse osmosis targets in tap water

Mains water can meet legal standards and still carry unwanted substances. Reverse osmosis targets the things most homeowners are concerned about, leaving water that tastes clean, smells neutral and performs consistently for drinking, cooking and food preparation.

Matched to your home

Designed for real homes

Every Aquasoft RO installation starts with your home, not a product brochure. It sits alongside the rest of our drinking water systems. We assess your incoming water pressure, available space, daily usage and whether you want a storage tank or a direct-flow system.

Whether you choose a compact under-sink system or a higher-capacity direct-flow unit, it's installed neatly, sized to run efficiently, and tested thoroughly before we leave.

Your choice

Optional remineralisation for taste and balance

Some people prefer ultra-pure water. Others, especially in hard water areas, like minerals added back for taste. Our optional remineralisation cartridges restore essential minerals after filtration, improving mouthfeel and raising pH, for water that tastes natural without compromising purity. You choose the finish, we set it up correctly.

Neat and tidy

Seamless kitchen integration

Your RO system can be supplied with a dedicated mini tap, or integrated into a three-way tap that delivers hot, cold and filtered water from one fitting.

That keeps your kitchen clutter-free while cutting your reliance on bottled water, a cleaner, more sustainable solution that fits modern kitchens.

Common questions

Reverse osmosis, answered

Is reverse osmosis water safe to drink?
Yes. RO produces very clean water by removing the vast majority of contaminants. Because it also removes dissolved minerals, some people add a remineralisation cartridge for taste and balance, which we can fit as an option.
What does reverse osmosis remove from tap water?
RO targets chlorine taste and odour, microplastics, lead, fluoride, dissolved solids, bacteria and viruses, and reduces pharmaceutical traces, hormones and VOCs, substances that can remain even when water meets legal standards.
Does reverse osmosis remove healthy minerals?
It removes most dissolved minerals along with the contaminants. If you'd prefer minerals back in for taste, our optional remineralisation cartridge restores them after filtration and raises the pH.
How often do the filters need changing?
Pre and post filters are typically changed every 6 to 12 months, and the membrane every 2 to 3 years depending on use and water quality. We set out a clear schedule and can handle replacements for you.
Does an RO system waste a lot of water?
RO does produce some wastewater, but modern and direct-flow systems are far more efficient than older units. We size the system to your usage to keep waste to a minimum.
How much does a reverse osmosis system cost?
Our K5 Pure+ system starts at £745. The final price depends on the system and your kitchen plumbing, and we give a fixed installation quote after a free consultation.
