It was Word Water Day on Monday. World Water Day is an annual United Nations observance day held on 22 March that highlights the importance of fresh water. Held every year since 1993, this is a day which celebrates water and raises awareness of the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water. Each year there is a different theme, with theme for 2021 being “Valuing Water”. The public campaign invited people to join a global conversation on social media to “tell us your stories, thoughts and feelings about water”.
Valuing Water
Water means different things to different people. What does water mean to you?
World Water Day invited us to think about how is water important to your home and family life, your livelihood, your cultural practices, your wellbeing and your local environment.
- In households, schools and workplaces, water can mean health, hygiene, dignity and productivity.
- In cultural, religious and spiritual places, water can mean a connection with creation, community and oneself.
- In natural spaces, water can mean peace, harmony and preservation.
What are your stories, thoughts and feelings about water?
Today, water is under extreme threat from a growing population, increasing demands of agriculture and industry, and the worsening impacts of climate change. By recording – and celebrating – all the different ways water benefits our lives, we can value water properly and safeguard it effectively for everyone.
Water and Aqua Soft
We are fortunate to live in the UK where access to fresh running water is something that we often take for granted. That said, our water supply is not perfect and the hard water found in many areas can cause problems throughout your home (such as limescale buildup on surfaces and in appliances) and can also exacerbate skin conditions such as eczema. Aqua Soft can help by advising on a variety of water treatment solutions for your home and business. From water softeners and drinking water filters to boiling water taps and water coolers we have a variety of ways to make your water even better.
