We were asked to provide a quotation for a new water softening system for their manufacturing facility. We recommended a 2″ Industrial Duplex water softener and went on to install a 2″ Clack WS2 500L Duplex system. There was some existing pipework already in place but we needed to install a new bypass and individual in/out isolation valves. A 2″ inlet pre filter system was also installed to remove sediment from the private water supply.
The equipment installed was:
- 2″ pre filter system for 5 micron sediment filter
- Clack WS2 500L Duplex water softener
- 2″ Water meter and control panel to Clack unit and slave vessel
The schedule of works for this job involved:
- Connection of 2″ to hard feed and install bypass system with individual in/out isolation valve for pressure vessels
- Install Check valve on inlet
- Connect existing 1″ soft water feed to 2″ outlet
- Return feed into 2″ BSP male conenction
- Decommission and disconnect existing 1″ 60 litre Fleck 9000 Duplex
FloPlast

We were asked to provide a water purification system for their new testing facility. This was required to feed a 200L cold tank and 200L hot tank and consisted of a pre treatment ion exchange water softener and a Direct Flow Reverse Osmosis system. The resulting water would be below 20ppm purity. Our quote was based upon a maximum expected usage of 1,000 litres per day but we specified a system which would give up to 3,000 litres per day with a maximum direct flow rate of 100 litres per hour.
The equipment installed was:
- Clack WS1 simplex 50L water softener
- New 22mm bypass
- Robust 3000 RO unit
The schedule of works for this job involved:
- Install bypass set into existing plumbing
- Install and commission water softener and pre filter cartridges

Cubitt House
Cubitt House is a locally run independent business, showcasing a collection of award-winning public houses and hotels that proudly serve the Central London neighbourhoods of Belgravia, Knightsbridge, Pimlico and Marylebone. They have 6 sites: The Alfred Tennyson (Knightsbridge), The Beau Brummell (Piccadilly),The Coach Makers Arms (marylebone), The Grazing Goat (Marylebone), The Orange Public House and Hotel (Pimlico) and The Thomas Cubitt (Belgravia).
Water softener systems are of vital importance in the hospitality sector. For a start, there are generally an awful lot of water outlets in the average hotel as there are not only bathrooms connected to every room, but also kitchens, bars, restaurants and laundries to be considered. With limescale and soap scum buildup potentially being a problem in each of these areas, this will create a great deal of work for the cleaning staff to keep looking good as well as requiring a lot of cleaning materials and scale removers. A large scale water softening system servicing the whole business will remove the minerals from the hard water which causes the problems in the first place. An obvious solution in order to save on time and money.
For bars and restaurants, water that has been passed through a filtration system will not just ensure clear ice, better tasting drinks and glasses and crockery without unsightly mineral deposits, but will also ensure that the appliances used will work more efficiently, use less energy and last far longer. Commercial dishwashers and glass washers are just some of the appliances particularly affected by limescale, as they use hot water, high pressure and they heavily rely on balanced usage of chemicals. These appliances are costly to replace so ensuring a long life span is vital.
For these reasons, we were asked to install commercial duplex water softeners and filtration systems at each of the Cubitt House sites. To ensure that these are always functioning at their best, we also have an annual service and maintenance programme for each site, which includes the following:
- Full softener service and service kit (pistons, spacers and seals) twice a year
- Ice filter change
- Coffee filter change twice a year
- Breakdown and call out cover
If you run a business and think that a water softener or filtration system may benefit you, please get in touch. We’d be more than happy to arrange a site visit and find the best solution for your needs.
